How many Spirit Guides do we have?

As a Psychic Medium, I’ve done thousands of sessions with adults, teens and children over the years. I've done served both as a teacher who develops psychic ability and in doing card readings and energy healings.

In my personal experience, everyone has a team of 7 Primary Spiritual Guides that consist of: 2 Archangels, 2 Angels (there are 9 types of Angels) and 3 Personal Guides (a combination of Ascended Masters, Deities, Ancestors, High Ascension Alien Beings, and Specialist Guides etc.). But they can change over time as a soul ascends or depending on a particular occupation or task that you are doing.

Spirit Guides can be labeled as Archangels, Angels, Guardian Angels and Personal Guides, Goddesses, Ascended Masters and Enlightened Beings, Ancestors, Spirit Animals, Elemental Energies (Sylphs, Undines, Salamanders, and Gnomes), or something residing upon the earth such as a tree, mountain, or body of water.

Anything that holds energy can use that energy to communicate impressions, feelings, thoughts and healing. Guides are always there to help in any situation; implanting an inner insight to assist in guiding you. They can become a constant part of your life if you remember to ask for their help!

I will emphasize that this is my personal experience. I believe that none of us who can communicate with Spirit have a definitive answer about this question. Question folks who believe they do, as Spirit is limitless and no one is all knowing about the ways of Divine Consciousness.

Every time I do a session, I communicate with a person’s 7 Primary Guides but hundreds can join a session depending on what we are doing, the guidance the client needs and on the client’s personal spiritual journey. If hundreds ‘step in’, the 7 Primary Guides act as the intermediary for me as I channel their messages. When I asked Spirit why I always communicate with 7 Primary Guides, Spirit informed me that it’s easier for a person to form a relationship with a primary team of Helpers than with an infinite number of guides, especially in the beginning.

Learning to connect with Spirit Guides is like learning any intuitive or psychic sense. You must seriously invest the time and effort to learn about the kinds of Guides in which you are interested. Create a sacred space to use and try to keep to a consistent time of day to do this work.

You can sit quietly or meditate. You can also set up a special place within your meditations in which you meet and greet your guides. Think of it as showing up for an important appointment each day. When working with Spirit Animals, Elementals or the Natural World; a place out in nature may work to your advantage (example: embracing tree communication by sitting up against a tree).

Keep a journal to record impressions,pictures, feelings, smells, specific messages, sensations, and information of any kind that you experience. Do not analyze or judge what you get and write it down as soon as possible otherwise you may forget things the longer you wait to record it. What transpired may not make sense at first but possibly may in the future; this is why writing everything down is so important. If you ask specific questions make sure to jot it down in your journal before you start your session of attempting to contact a guide.

Once a Spirit Guide starts coming through, you can start asking specific questions. When you have established a trusting and nonjudgmental rapport with a consistent Guide you can also ask if there is a Guide to better assist you to answer certain questions moving forward. Your Guide may answer the question itself or bring in another. Don’t try to second-guess this process. This will also help to expand your contacts within this realm of guides.

Another method is to ask to meet one of your Guidesjust before falling off to sleep. Something may come through within your dreams. Keep paper and writing implements at the bedside to jot down anything that may have transpired in your dream state.

No matter what types of Guides present themselves, remember that you always have a primary team of Guides around you to help you grow as a person. You may not be aware of them, you may not see them, but trust that they are there.
